I was lucky enough to meet baby Alfie when he was three weeks old. His wonderful mummy Katie wanted a lifestyle shoot of her newborn to capture these first moments.

I always do my shoots at the family home where mummy and baby are comfortable. This way I can really capture people in their natural environment and it also allows new mums to relax (I know how hard it is to leave the house with a newborn!)

It was a beautiful morning with the soft sunlight shining through Alfie’s nursery window.  He was quite awake to begin with so we did some more candid photos of  mummy and Alfie having cuddles. It also gave me chance to get some lovely photos of his tiny hands and feet and his gorgeous fiery red hair.

After a feed and more cuddles, Alfie started to get tired so we could get the really cute sleepy shots. I like to make babies look as natural as possible, so the light of the window really helps to capture that dreamy style of photography.

I love that you can see his little personality shining through when he is sat with mummy, and he was an absolute dream client for the curled up sleepy shots.
